US ARMY

Representative Joshua Tarsky began his studies at Yale University in the fall of 2001, but his path took a profound turn after the events of September 11th. Struggling with the question, "Why not me?" he chose to serve his country, enlisting in the U.S. Army as a Special Forces (Green Beret) soldier after graduation. He went on to complete two tours in Afghanistan and one in Honduras. During his military service, Josh witnessed firsthand the vital role that strong laws and a well-functioning education system play in a society’s stability and success.

TEACHING

Leaving active duty, Josh matriculated at Harvard University where he received a Master in Education and dedicated himself to fixing America’s education system. After graduation, Josh taught English in Lawrence during the day and spent his evenings earning a law degree from Suffolk University with help from the GI Bill.
